PowerFeed is a Shopify app operated by Berridge Strategy Group Limited, a New Zealand company. PowerFeed is designed to help Shopify merchants import, manage, and automate product data from suppliers and other external data sources.

We have tried to write this Privacy Policy in plain English. If anything is unclear, please contact us at privacy@powerfeed.io.

1. Who this policy applies to

This Privacy Policy applies to merchants who install or use the PowerFeed Shopify app, and to authorised users who access PowerFeed through a Shopify store.

PowerFeed is a Shopify app built for merchants. We do not provide a customer-facing storefront feature, and we do not intentionally collect information directly from shoppers browsing a merchant’s online store.

2. Information we collect from Shopify

When a merchant installs PowerFeed, Shopify gives us access to the information required to provide the app.

Depending on the features used by the merchant, this may include:

  • Store information, such as the Shopify store domain, store ID, currency, timezone, and basic store settings.
  • Product information, such as products, variants, SKUs, barcodes, prices, inventory, images, tags, metafields, vendors, product types, and product status.
  • Inventory information, including Shopify inventory locations and stock quantities.
  • App installation and billing status information, where required to manage access to PowerFeed plans and features.
  • Order, fulfilment, and tracking information if and when the merchant enables future PowerFeed modules that require this data.

PowerFeed only requests Shopify permissions that are needed to provide the app’s functionality.

3. Information merchants provide directly to PowerFeed

Merchants may provide information directly to PowerFeed when configuring sources, feeds, mappings, or support requests.

This may include:

  • Supplier names or data provider details.
  • Source names and descriptions.
  • Feed URLs, FTP details, SFTP details, API endpoints, and related configuration.
  • Uploaded files such as CSV, Excel, XML, JSON, TXT, or other structured product data files.
  • Mapping rules, field transformations, schedules, and source settings.
  • Support messages, screenshots, and troubleshooting information.
  • Contact details provided when requesting support.

Some source configurations may include credentials such as FTP, SFTP, API, or authentication details. Credentials are used only to connect to the source configured by the merchant and are encrypted at rest.

4. Supplier and external feed data

PowerFeed processes data supplied by merchants, suppliers, distributors, data providers, or external systems selected by the merchant.

This data usually contains product, pricing, inventory, image, and catalogue information. In some cases, a merchant may upload or connect a source that contains additional information.

Merchants are responsible for ensuring they have the right to provide source data to PowerFeed and use it with their Shopify store.

5. Customer data

PowerFeed’s initial product import functionality is focused on product, variant, pricing, inventory, image, and catalogue data.

PowerFeed does not intentionally collect information directly from a merchant’s customers through the storefront.

If a merchant uses future PowerFeed modules that involve orders, fulfilment, or tracking updates, PowerFeed may process the customer and order information needed to provide those features. This may include names, delivery addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, order IDs, fulfilment status, tracking numbers, and supplier fulfilment references.

We will only use this information to provide the requested PowerFeed functionality, support the merchant, maintain accurate logs, and comply with legal or Shopify platform requirements.

6. How we use information

We use the information we collect to provide and improve PowerFeed.

This includes:

  • Connecting to merchant-selected data sources.
  • Importing and normalising source data.
  • Mapping source fields to Shopify product, variant, inventory, image, metafield, and related fields.
  • Running manual or scheduled product import and update jobs.
  • Creating logs that show what happened during each run.
  • Showing merchants what changed, what was skipped, and why.
  • Troubleshooting errors and providing support.
  • Managing billing status, plan limits, and entitlements.
  • Monitoring app reliability, performance, and security.
  • Preventing misuse, unauthorised access, and security incidents.
  • Meeting legal, tax, accounting, compliance, and Shopify platform requirements.

We do not sell merchant data or customer data.

We do not use merchant data or customer data for third-party advertising.

7. Logs and run history

PowerFeed creates detailed run history and logs so merchants can understand how their data was processed.

These logs may include:

  • Source file names or source references.
  • Run timestamps.
  • Product, variant, SKU, barcode, inventory, and mapping outcomes.
  • Success, skipped, warning, and error counts.
  • Field-level results.
  • Error messages and diagnostic details.

Logs are an important part of PowerFeed’s functionality. They help merchants audit product updates, diagnose issues, and understand why a product, variant, or field was changed or skipped.

We do not intentionally include passwords, access tokens, or secret credentials in logs.

8. How we share information

We only share information when needed to provide PowerFeed, operate our business, or comply with legal obligations.

We may share information with:

  • Shopify, where required to operate the app and update the merchant’s Shopify store.
  • Hosting, database, file storage, logging, monitoring, and infrastructure providers.
  • Email, support, analytics, and operational tools used to run PowerFeed.
  • Professional advisers, such as lawyers, accountants, auditors, or insurers.
  • Law enforcement, regulators, courts, or other parties where required by law.
  • A buyer, investor, or successor if PowerFeed is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of assets.

Where we use service providers, we expect them to handle information securely and only for the purposes we authorise.

9. Data storage and security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect merchant data.

These steps may include:

  • Encrypting sensitive credentials at rest.
  • Restricting access to merchant data to authorised personnel.
  • Using role-based internal access controls.
  • Maintaining audit logs for support and administrative activity.
  • Keeping secrets out of run logs where possible.
  • Using secure hosting and managed infrastructure.
  • Monitoring app reliability and security.

No system is completely secure, but we work to protect the information entrusted to PowerFeed and to reduce the risk of unauthorised access, misuse, loss, or disclosure.

10. Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide PowerFeed, support merchants, maintain auditability, comply with legal obligations, and operate our business.

Different types of information may be kept for different periods.

For example:

  • Active source settings and mappings are kept while the merchant uses PowerFeed.
  • Run history and logs are kept so merchants can review past imports and diagnose issues.
  • Billing and account records may be kept as required for accounting, tax, legal, or compliance reasons.
  • Some information may be retained in backups for a limited period before being deleted through normal backup rotation.

If a merchant uninstalls PowerFeed, we may retain certain account, billing, run, log, and configuration records for a reasonable period for audit, support, legal, security, and compliance purposes, unless deletion is required by law or requested through an applicable data request.

11. Merchant choices and data requests

Merchants can contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information held by PowerFeed, subject to legal, security, contractual, and technical limitations.

Requests can be sent to privacy@powerfeed.io.

If Shopify sends PowerFeed a privacy or data request through Shopify’s required compliance process, we will process that request in accordance with Shopify’s requirements and applicable law.

12. International processing

PowerFeed may store and process information in countries other than the country where the merchant is located.

Our service providers may operate in New Zealand, Australia, the United States, Europe, or other regions. Where information is transferred internationally, we take steps intended to protect it in accordance with applicable privacy and data protection requirements.

13. Cookies and tracking

PowerFeed is used inside the Shopify Admin and on PowerFeed-controlled app pages.

We may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for authentication, security, session management, app functionality, analytics, or performance monitoring.

PowerFeed does not intentionally place tracking technologies on a merchant’s storefront to track shoppers for advertising purposes.

14. Children’s privacy

PowerFeed is a business app for Shopify merchants. It is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and may notify merchants through the app, by email, or by another appropriate method.

The latest version of this Privacy Policy will be available at https://powerfeed.io/privacy-policy.
